An official notary seal stamp or seal embosser is necessary for a notary, as this is their most-used tool. A notary seal is used to authenticate the notary’s signature and to make the notarial act official and is the impression of the notary public crimping embosser or inked stamp. The imprint of the seal contains the notary public’s information.

Stamps and embossers are terms that are used interchangeably, and the following guide will provide you with more information about each:

Notary Stamp

These are inked rubber stamps that imprint required information like the notary public’s name, for example. They can be rectangular or round in shape, and this will depend on the province you are in and their specific requirements. Stamps use ink and are used to place an image directly on the paper. The document must be placed on a firm surface that is flat; otherwise, you may get an image that is unacceptable after you stamp it, and the document may be rejected as a result.

Stamps should not be angled, and you must quickly press and release by holding it with your thumb and fingers and not the palm of your hand. The stamped image must show all of the letters ,numbers and information clearly.

Notary Embosser

These are metal clamping devices that produce a raised indentation of the notary public’s information. These used to be the traditional method for documenting a notarization and are round in shape. While some situations may still call for a raised embossed seal, they are more commonly used in conjunction with the inked rubber stamp. Seals are embossed into the paper itself, and embossers are designed for quick operation, and the mechanism should be used with one hand. Always keep your seal locked whenever it is not in use, as this will ensure the embosser seal gives a sharp and clean impression.

Every notary will need a stamp or seal, and it’s a must that you know which one is required for your line of work. This will ensure you have the right seal, and clients will know they are getting the services they require. It’s not a matter of which is best but which one is required, so this is what needs to be confirmed. It’s always best to compare both options and to speak to a notary public for more information. Ink stamps can smudge, but embossed seals are not always reproducible, which can be a problem if the paperwork is copied. You have to weigh this information before you proceed any further.
